Criminals Nabbed, Lynched in Patna City

Patna: June 27, 2007

Two criminals while attempting to snatch a motorcycle from a man in Patna City on Wednesday got what they deserved when a mob, hearing the scream for help from the victim, surrounded the criminals and beat them up until both died on the spot.

As reported, the mob in Sultanganj caught hold of Jasia and Lulha, two criminals wanted by the Patna City police in several robbery cases, as they tried to escape by firing shots in the air. Using bricks, iron rods and other objects, the crowd beat both of them up resulting in their deaths.

An American pistol and three cartridges were recovered from the criminal's possession, the police said.

The bodies were sent to the Nalanda Medical College Hospital for post-mortems as the police filed an FIR against several unnamed individuals.
