Central Bank of India in Nawada Robbed; Rs. 28 Lakh Looted

Heavily armed robbers posing as customers in Nawada on Friday at around 10:15 am took the employees of the Central Bank of India located in Vijay Bazaar hostage and escaped with nearly Rs. 28 lakh in cash before an alarm could be raised, the Nawada police said.

The criminals, at gun points, snatched all the cell phones from bank employees and turned them off before forcing the bank's head cashier to open the strong room from where they stole Rs.27.75 lakh. After collecting the booty, they locked all the bank employees in the strong room and left, report said.

No one was said to be hurt in the robbery that lasted less than 15 minutes.

Some customers who entered the bank after the robbery was committed, informed the police who got the employees out of the strong box.

Raids are being conducted to apprehend the criminals.
