Patna: Mar. 13, 2007

The police in Kankarbagh on Tuesday arrested four men who had, on late Sunday night in Phulwarisharif, robbed custom inspector Arun Rajak and his wife and got away with a large amount of cash, jewelries, and their Maruti car.

Acting on a tip-off, the Kankarbagh police station in-charge Ramakant Prasad on Monday night followed a Maruti car with criminals waving arms in it.

After a long chase covering several miles, the chase ended in Phulwarisharif where two criminals tried to jump out of the vehicle and take off on foot. Prasad and his team, however, managed to catch hold of the criminals while also recovering two pistols, some live cartridges, a mobile phone, and Rajak’s stolen Maruti.

Based on the criminals’ statements, the police arrested two more men from the Phulwari area.

The criminals were identified as Sujit Kumar of Khazanchi Road, Pappu Khan of Naya Tola, Abhimanyu Kumar of Mithapur and Munna Kant of Phulwari.
