Lawsuit against Raj Thackeray for Insulting Biharis
Patna: Mar. 15, 2007
Patna resident Avinash Chowdhary, on Thursday, filed a legal suit in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate against the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray for insulting all Biharis during a statement he made on the first anniversary of the formation of his party on March 9 in Mumbai.
"Thackeray, by making disparaging comments about Biharis that was shown to the entire world by the cable television channels, had insulted the entire state of Bihar and Biharis living all over the world," Chowdhary said in his complaint.
"The Maharashtrian leader openly called for beating up Biharis in Maharashtra. Such statements are anti-national and could prove to be very dangerous to all Biharis living outside the state," the complaint read.
"Thackeray should be charged with high crime against the nation and must be punished under Indian Criminal Penal Code under section 121, 121a, 153, 504, 506, and 511," Chowdhary asked from the court.
The court will hold a hearing on the case on March 17.
