Patna: Mar. 16, 2007

Former Maharashtra CM Chhagal Bhujbal in Patna. Photo by Shashi UttamNationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Maharashtra minister Chhagan Bhujbal, in Patna on Friday, decried recent anti-Bihari statements by Maharashtra Nirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray calling it a 'publicity stunt' that did not represent the majority of the state's population.

"Biharis in Maharashtra have nothing to worry about and the government will provide them full security as needed," Bhujbal said at a tea party hosted by NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar at his residence.

The Maharashtra leader was in Patna to participate in a rally.

Bhujbal also denied rumors of his party planning to join hands with the Congress.

"Just because one party leader praises the work of leaders from other party does not mean it is ready to join hands with it," he said.

Earlier, Bhujbal, during a press conference, released a book on social harmony in the presence of other party leaders.
