Saras Vasant Mela Extended by Three Days

Saras Mela in Patna. Photo by Shashi UttamOrganizers of the Vasant Saras Mela, being held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, on Saturday, extended the fair by three extra days in view of the recent rainstorm that caused extensive damages, both physically and financially, to the fair, officials said.

The fair that was originally come to an end on March 19, will now run till March 22, District Magistrate B. Rajendra said on Saturday.

After a few days of lull caused by the storm, life came back on the eighth day of the fair as thousands of people turned up to enjoy the rural atmosphere created by its organizers DRDA and the NGO Prayas.

Artists also performed in plays by Bhikhari Thakur and participated in the 'Bidesia' play directed by Sanjay Upadhyay.

Other cultural shows included a play by Manoj Kumar, Bihu dance, Alha, Purvi, and Chaita songs.
