Another Train Robbery in Patna-Kiul Division
Patna: Mar. 18, 2007
Criminals on Patna-Kiul 502 Down train, on late Sunday night making a complete mockery of the security arrangements on trains in Bihar, robbed the passengers of their cash and other valuables to the tune of several lakh rupees, and escaped before an alarm could be raised, the Railway Police in Patna said.
The crime took place at around 11:00 pm when between 15 to 20 armed criminals posing as criminals entered into the train at Pandarak station.
As soon as the train left the station, the criminals pulled out guns, pistols, and knives and started to rob the passengers of their cash, cell phones, watches, jewelries, and other valuable items.
The criminals hit three passengers on their heads with pistol butts causing injury to them. When the train stopped at the small Kanhaipur station, the criminals got off the train and disappeared in the cover of darkness.
Terrorized passengers and victims raised an outcry when the train arrived at Mokama Junction while injured passengers were taken to a hospital in Mokama.
There was no security in the train at the time of robbery, passengers said.
The section between Patna and Mokama has attained quite notoriety due to the high number of robberies taking place within that section. Yet, the government and the railway authorities remain indifferent to such incidents that continue to threaten all passengers passing through this highly dangerous section of the East Central Railways.
