Corrupt Engineer, His Clerk Sent to Jail

The Vigilance Bureau in Patna on Sunday, after producing the Building Construction engineer Akhilesh Kumar Sharma before a special Vigilance court and sent him to Beur Jail in judicial custody.

The engineer's corrupt record clerk Shyamnandan Rai was also sent to the jail on similar charges, the police said.

The Vigilance sleuths meanwhile are sifting through all the documents seized during the raid to gather more evidences against Sharma to lodge a case for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known means of income.

Sharma was caught red-handed taking bribe to the tune of Rs. 18,500 on Saturday. The police then raided his house in Shastrinagar and froze his assets until the completion of the investigation.

Rai also had Rs. 40,000 in cash with him when he was arrested from his house in Phulwarisharif.
