Shahabuddin's Supporters in Siwan Jail Transferred
Siwan: Mar. 21, 2007
A day after the high drama at Siwan Jail when the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and MP from Siwan Mohammed Shahabuddin, aided by his gang of thugs, clashed with another gang members in the prison resulting in injuries to over two dozen inmates and many security guards, officials transferred ten supporters of the MP to other jails in an attempt to smash the Siwan Jail mafia.
The ten prisoners were sent to Bhagalpur and Gopalganj jails amidst extremely tight security, officials in Siwan said.
Meanwhile, considering the security concerns, the authorities are gearing up to start the summary trial against Shahabuddin a makeshift court in the prison.
Jail officials in Siwan said Shahabuddin maintains his supremacy in the prison by demanding from each new prisoner to come see him and 'seek his blessings if he knew what was good for him'.
The three new inmates who were caught by Janata Dal (U) legislator and brought to Siwan Jail on Tuesday, refused to bow before the RJD leader leading to an all-out brawl in the prison, jail officials said.
