School Principal is the 5th Prosecution Witness in Papiya Case
Patna: Mar. 24, 2007
The prosecution in the Prof. Papiya Ghosh murder case, on Saturday, presented its fifth witness, the principal of Bachpan Play School Bijendra Tiwari, who was one of the first few persons to see the corpses of Prof. Ghosh and her maid Malti Devi at their home in Pataliputra Colony in Patna on December 3.
"When I heard of the devastating news, I came to the house at around 10:00 am and saw the bodies of Prof. Ghosh and her maid Malti Devi. Prof. Ghosh, wearing a black gown and a blue trouser, was on her bed and had visible marks of attacks on her face, stomach, head, and neck. The house had all the telltale signs of a dacoity as many items, including the television set, were missing from their usual places," Tiwari told the fast track judge Om Prakash.
"The police was already there investigating the crime scene when I arrived there. I signed the police report as the witness to the crime scene," he said.
Papiya Ghosh, a noted historian and a professor of Patna University, was found dead in her house on the morning of December 3. Both she and her maid were stabbed to death. Five people, including a lawyer, remain in judicial custody as police continues to search for two other suspects in the case.
