Dr. Ambedkar's Thoughts Still Relevant: Governor

At a seminar organized to discuss the philosophies of the nation's eminent social leader, freedom fighter, and the father of the Indian Constitution Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Bihar Governor R. S. Gavai said that despite gaining independence from the British nearly 60 years ago, India is yet to gain independence in social and economic spheres.

The seminar, co-sponsored by the Indian Higher Education Institute, Shimla, and Adri, Patna, was held at the Patna Museum auditorium and attended by several leaders and social leaders including Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, Dr, Shaibal Gupta, sociologist and JNU professor Yogendra Singh, and the former Vice Chancellor of Kameshwar Singh Sanskrit University Dr. Brahmachari Surendra Kumar, among others.

"Dr. Ambedkar was not only a freedom fighter; he also fought for the social freedom for the poor and women. Even today, his philosophies bear relevance and the country must act on it if it wants to have a well-rounded development", the Governor said.
