Security Heightened for Ramnavmi in Patna
Patna: Mar. 26, 2007
To ensure a peaceful and incident-free Ramnavmi festival that falls on Tuesday, the district administration in Patna has made elaborate security arrangement with extra attention on all major temples where miscreants have historically tried to incite communal riots on one pretext or another.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kundan Krishnan, while talking to media on Monday, said that the police would be keeping close tab on all activities inside and around the temples, particularly the Mahavir Temple on the station, and any person found to be fomenting trouble of any kind would be immediately arrested.
Situation on Tuesday is particularly sensitive in view of the Ramnavmi procession that coincides with Sai Baba yatra sponsored by the Sai Seva Sansthan.
"We have recalled our forces that are currently deployed at exam centers in Bihar to monitor activities during Ramnavmi," Krishnan said.
Meanwhile, the Mahavir Temple outside Patna Junction, has announced its decision to open its door for the public at 1:00 am on Tuesday to accommodate large number of devotees, temple officials said on Monday.
