Over 3 Dozen Motorcycles Destroyed in Fire

Patna: Mar. 28, 2007

A mysterious fire under Deedarganj police station in Patna City on Tuesday night destroyed over three dozen brand new motorcycles that were on a truck waiting to be unloaded at a motorcycle showroom nearby, officials in Patna said on Wednesday.

According to the report, a police flying squad, during a routine patrolling, noticed the fire on the truck carrying several models of Bajaj motorcycles. Fire tenders were rushed in but by the time the fire was brought under control, over three dozen motorcycles, including many Pulsar and Discover, were blazed beyond recovery.

Deedarganj police station in-charge V. P. Sinha said the truck had been parked there for nearly a week to be unloaded by the motorcycle dealer.

The truck driver and his assistant are nowhere to be found.

The police is investigating the case from all angles including vandalism and insurance fraud, officials said.
