Trouble in Biharsharif, Gaya during Ramnavmi Procession

Biharsharif: Mar. 28, 2007

The administration and Ramnavmi procession attendees in Biharsharif and Gaya, in separate incidents on Wednesday, clashed with each other resulting in a police lathi-charge in which over a dozen people, including two Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) jawans, were injured.

Reports from Biharsharif said the Ramnavmi procession started from Labor Welfare Center. When the parade reached the hospital crossing, officials asked them to take the Sadbhavna Marg in compliance with the noise rules of the hospital.

This led to an altercation which soon took the shape of a riot. Rally-goers pelted stones at the police which then resorted to lathi charge in which many protestors were injured.

Two SAP jawans and a media reporter were also hurt in the melee.

In Gaya, some miscreant threw rocks at the Ramnavmi Shobha Yatra leading to a fierce brick-batting in which many people were hurt.
