Kishori Festival to Felicitate Girls Begins in Patna

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar while inaugurating the Kishori Mahotsav sponsored by the Bihar Education Board at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Friday, promised to continue to work for more empowerment for the women of Bihar by opening more doors for their education and self-reliance.
"Educating a son is a way to ensure the parents are not left alone when they are old but by educating a daughter the parents enhance their culture and tradition and that is why our government is doing everything to ensure the girls of Bihar get the best education they can get in the state," the Chief Minister said in his inaugural speech.
"We made provision for 50% reservation for women in the Panchayat elections and now we plan to provide the same facility in the municipal elections as well," Kumar said adding he wanted to build a Bihar where there was no difference between a boy and a girl and the Biharis could proudly say that they were Biharis.
Humar Resources Minister Brishin Patel also lauded the roles of women in the Indian history. "Our daughters are the pride of the nation and in the coming days they will increasingly be playing even more important roles in shaping the future of the country," he said.
Others who also spoke on the occasion included Road Construction Minister Nandkishore Yadav, Sports and Youth minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal program director Anjani Kumar Singh.
