Shahabuddin Threatens Key Witness; FIR Lodged
Siwan: May 2, 2007
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP from Siwan Mohammed Shahabuddin may be spending last of his few years in prison and may do so for the rest of his life if he is convicted in even half of the more than three dozens criminal cases he faces; humility apparently has not touched him as he threatened a witness of dire consequences during the hearing of a case involving possession of a stolen vehicle.
In full view of the court on Wednesday, the criminal-turned-politician threatened the Barharia police station in-charge B. K. Pandey who is a witness in the case.
Pandey filed an FIR, the sixth such FIR while being incarcerated, against the MP for making threats on his life.
According to the report, as Pandey waited for the court to decide whether to delay the Wednesday hearing in the absence of Advocate General, Shahabuddin, talking to Pandey, said it had been long time since these people were beaten up. "Let me get out of the jail then we will beat them up and teach them a lesson not to mess with us again," the man who faces countless charges of murders, abductions, and breaking nearly all the laws of the land, said.
Not surprisingly, the Siwan MP denies the charges.
Ironically, Shahabuddin, except for his handful of henchmen, goons, and sidekicks, stands abandoned by his own party. "It's been a long time since a leader of any prominence has come to see him in the Siwan jail," a prison official said.
