Police Takes Killer Cop in Custody

Patna: May 6, 2007

Shastrinagar police in Patna on Sunday took the killer cop Pawan Singh into its custody on remand to interrogate him on the gruesome killing of Danapur businessman Rajesh Kumar whose charred body was found from Jamal Road in Patna a few days ago.

The cop-turned-killer was grilled by the Shastrinagar police officials and later by the Sachivalaya DSP Kumar Amar Singh.

Officials said Singh has confessed of killing Rajesh Kumar, beheading his body and dumping body parts in Vaishali district and Jamal Road in Patna with the help of his associates.

As reported earlier, Rajesh Kumar was lured into buying a motorcycle. During a test drive last Sunday, Pawan Singh took him inside an abandoned building in Shastrinagar where he, with the help of his gang members, killed Rajesh, severed, and burnt his head to hide his identity, and dumped his body parts in Patna and Hajipur.

He was arrested a day after the crime took place.

The police believe Rajesh was killed for Rs. 25,000 that he had with him for the motorcycle, sources said.
