As reported, outside Gate Number 2 of the Botanical Garden, when the two youths issuing parking passes to the visitors asked the Janata Dal (U) youth president and legislator from Harnaut Sunil Kumar to pay the parking fee, the MLA and his bodyguards got very agitated and roughed up Ravi Anand and his associate Guddu.

"Don't you know who am I? My posters are plastered all over the city and yet you don't know me?" the legislator is alleged to have said before his goons beat up Ravi and Guddu in which Ravi broke one of his fingers.

Both parties have lodged FIRs with the Sachivalaya police station against each other.

Taking the matter seriously, Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah said the Director General of Police (DGP) has been directed to look into the matter and take proper action against the erring party.

"We have learnt that the legislator had four bodyguards at the zoo. He is allowed only two security officials and if it is found to be true, two guards would be withdrawn," the Home Secretary said.

Meanwhile, a supporter of Sunil Kumar said the two men at the zoo were engaging in extortion attempts. When the MLA's security guard tried to capture them, they tried to escape. That's when they were chased and beaten up, he said.

The legislator, in his defense, said the incident took place at 7:30 am whereas between 5:00 am and 8:00 am, parking is free at the zoo.
