CPI-ML Takes out Anti-Shahabuddin Rally
Patna: May 8, 2007
Communist Party of India (ML) supporters in Patna, hours after a Siwan court sent RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin to prison for life in the kidnapping-abduction of CPI-ML activist Chhote Lal Gupta, took out a rally demanding ejection of the MP from the Lok Sabha and completion of CBI probe against him in the murder of JNU president Chandrashekhar.
Announcing its decision to hold a statewide rally in Bihar on Wednesday, party's state secretary Nand Kishore Prasad said Shahabuddin must be kicked out of the Parliament and the CBI trial involving the murder of JNU former president Chandrashekhar must be completed without further delay.
The leaders also accused the Nitish government in Bihar saying several criminals-turned-politicians including Ranvir Sena chief Barmeshwar Mukhia, Prabhunath Singh and Sunil Pandey were being protected by the government and the CPI-ML would soon launch an agitation demanding speedy conclusion of their trials.
In other political quarters also, there were buzz of Tuesday's sentencing phase in Siwan.
Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) state general secretary Mangal Pandey and state spokesperson Sanjay Mayukh described Shahabuddin's sentence as 'historical'.
"This man had spread his reign of terror in the entire state of Bihar and therefore, this is a day that would go in the pages of history as one of the red-letter days for the state," they said adding it was evident now that the previous RJD government was providing protection to the Siwan MP that resulted in the inordinate delay in his trials.
