You Go Girls!
Patna: May 9, 2007
Robbers who broke into the house of a Patna businessman under Kadam Kuan police station on Wednesday, never in their wildest dreams, had expected to be challenged by three members of the fairer sex who not only tackled four criminals but also managed to hold one of them long enough for the police to come and arrest him.
The incredible display of courage became known when four criminals, posing as the friends of the son of Patna bangle trader Deepak Kumar Agrawal entered into his rented house near Congress Maidan on Wednesday afternoon.
Realizing that there were only female members present inside the house, the criminals started to snatch valuables from Agrawal's wife Nirmala Agrawal and daughter Khushboo. When the women screamed for help, their neighbor Chitralekha rushed to their rescue only to be made hostage along with the other two ladies.
Soon other women in the building surrounded the house and tried to capture the criminals. While three criminals managed to escape, a fourth one was overpowered and pinned to the ground until other neighbors arrived and took him in their custody.
After giving him some serious thrashing, the criminal, who was identified as Pravin Kumar of Kajipur, was handed over to the police.
A pistol was recovered from Pravin's possession, the police said.
Based on Pravin's accounts, the police is hoping to make more arrests in the case, Town DSP Saroj Kumar said.
