Leaders cutting across party lines, paid homage to the former Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Patna Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha to mark his 57th birth anniversary at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on Friday under the banner of "Navin Sinha Pratibha Samman Samaroh".
Among those who attended the function included Sinha's son and Patna MLA Nitin Navin, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, BJP leader and film star Shatrughan Sinha, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Ram Kripal Yadav, Congress state president Sadanand Singh, state Water Resources Minister Ramashray Prasad Singh and many others.
The event featured a documentary film named "Karamyogi Navin" that highlighted the late BJP leader's achievements as a tireless man dedicated to improve the life of all.
Several prominent high-achievers from Bihar were awarded for their contributions in various areas of life including Prof. R. K. Sinha for his Save Ganga Dolphin project, Lalmuni Devi, the acclaimed Naubatpur mushroom grower, Dr. Jitendra Singh of Mahavir Cancer Institute, littérateur Bhagwati Prasad Dwivedi, Preeti Rani for her achievements in sports, former army officer Vipul Ram who fought in the 1971 Indo-Pak war and lost both feet, and Ashok Kumar Biswas for reviving and popularizing Tikuli art.
Shatrughan Sinha, in his speech, said Bihar was a land full of talents and they must be encouraged to come out and show the world what they are capable of doing.
Sinha also said he hoped Nitin Navin would follow on the footsteps of his father and will never let him down.
Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha died in New Delhi on January 1, 2006 just months after he won from Patna (West) constituency in the November 2006 Assembly polls that saw the exit of Lalu-Rabri led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) government.
