Hotel Owner Turns in Rs. 2 Lakh in Found Money

Patna: May 12, 2007

Who said honesty and integrity are things of past?

The owner and employees of the Abhiruchi Restaurant located within the Marwari Lodge at Frazer Road in Patna, on Saturday, showed that there are still some folks who have these virtues intact even in this age of greed and self-gratification when they turned in nearly Rs. 2 lakh in cash inadvertently left behind by some customer.

As reported, a hotel staff noticed a bag where three men were earlier having their lunch.

Fearing explosives in it, the employee informed the hotel owner Krishna Kumar Kahmani who, after carefully weighing in the situation, decided to open the bag only to find Rs. 1.97 lakh neatly stacked in it.

Kahmani, without giving it a second thought, informed the Kotwali police and turned in the bag to station in-charge Ajay Kumar.

A bank check book and some other documents were also discovered from the bag based on which the police is trying to locate its owner.

Gandhi Maidan police station in-charge Mundrika Prasad also arrived at the hotel to determine if there was a connection between the recovery of money and a theft case earlier on Jamal Road when criminals walked away with Rs. 2 lakh in cash from the vehicle of a petrol-pump owner.

So far no one has stepped forward to claim the money.
