Mrs. Sinha died of lung complications at a Delhi hospital on Monday.
On the plane, Kumar was accompanied by his son Nishant, Janata Dal (U) president Sharad Yadav, Digvijay Singh, Shahnawaz Hussain, Prabhunath Singh, Rajiv Ranjan Singh (MP), Shivanand Tiwari, and many others leaders.
Former Union Minister and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dr. C. P. Thakur and other leaders received the flower-bedecked body at Patna Airport from where she was brought to the Chief Minister's official residence at 1 Anne Marg. Besides the family members and the VIPS, literally thousands of people gathered outside to get a glimpse of the lady who showed a certain dignity and class throughout the political career of her husband.
Besides several Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (U) leaders and supporters, Governor R. S. Gavai also arrived at the CM's residence to pay his last tribute to Mrs. Sinha.
A few hours later, the body was taken to Kamala Nehru Girl's High School in Yarpur where Mrs. Sinha taught English. Hundreds of students with their eyes welled paid their last homage to their teacher who they had come to love and respect.
The body was then taken to her paternal house in Kankarbagh where close family members had already gathered to bid a final goodbye to the eldest daughter of the household.
The final journey began from Kankarbagh to Pahalwan Ghat in Patna where Nishant, her only son, lit the pyre amidst a very somber atmosphere.
While trying to get a grip over his emotions, Kumar could not hold back tears each time someone came and tried to console him for his personal loss.
"I had never thought this day would come so early," Kumar was heard saying to one of the family members.
