School Pays Rich Tribute to its Teacher
Patna: May 15, 2007
In a very emotional, heart-wrenching atmosphere, staff and students of Kamala Nehru High School in Yarpur in Patna paid highest tribute to one of their own when the body of Manju Sinha, the wife of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, arrived at the school where she taught for quite some time.
Sobbing teachers and students, unable to control their emotions and not willing to accept the ugly reality of the death of their beloved teacher, placed wreaths on the mortal remains of Mrs. Sinha who, they said, never let power of her husband go into her head.
"Never for a moment had she ever let us think that she was the wife of Bihar Chief Minister. She was like one of us who would still seek permission from me if she wanted a day off," said the school Principal Uma Sinha.
"She was very disciplined and loved by all. She followed the school rules and regulations like an ordinary teacher. The day she became sick, she called me and told me she would not be able to come to the school because she was not feeling well. Who would have thought that that would be the last time we would be hearing her voice," Principal Sinha said while failing to control her emotions.
Aggrieved teachers pointed out at a painting of a peacock that Mrs. Sinha had created just a few months ago. "This painting will always remind us of Mrs. Sinha and the high standard she set for us and our students," the principal said.
