Wanted Train Robbers Nabbed in Patna
Patna: May 19, 2007
In what is considered as a major success for the Bihar police, a special police task force, in conjunction with their West Bengal counterparts on Saturday arrested three members of the gang of robbers who had, on July 8, 2005, pulled a daring heist on Geetanjali Express near Medinipur in West Bengal getting away with Rs. 99 lakh in cash belonging to the HDFC bank, the police in Patna said.
Acting on some very credible tips, the Gandhi Maidan police in Patna, on Saturday, staged a road block near Regent cinema to trap the criminals. As expected, the police identified the three criminals who had come to Patna to plan for their next robbery job and arrested them without any incident.
The three men were identified as Dhananjay Singh, Shailendra Singh, and Satyendra Singh who, during their interrogation, admitted of robbing the Geetanjali Express and over a dozen other robbery jobs in Bihar and West Bengal.
The criminals will be extradited to Kolkata on Sunday, Gandhi Maidan police station in-charge Mundrika Prasad said.
