Acid Thrown on CM's Security Official; Criminal Nabbed

A CID inspector attached with the Chief Minister's security, Nandkishore Chowdhary, on Monday, suffered severe burn injuries when a miscreant threw acid on his face as he stepped out of the clinic of Dr. Raja Ram Prasad near Patna Planetarium, officials said.

While feeling acute burning sensation on his face, Chowdhary chased the criminal and got hold of him.

After a mob give him a good thrashing, the criminal was turned over to the Kotwali police.

Chowdhary's face and eyes were severely affected by the chemical and had to be taken to the hospital for immediate treatment.

The man in custody was identified as the fruit vendor Amarnath Chowdhary who, during his confessional statement, said his target was in fact Dr. Raja Ram Prasad for allegedly misbehaving with his wife who was under his treatment.

According to Chowdhary, he tried to splash the acid on Dr. Prasad who was walking behind the inspector but missed his mark and instead hurled the acid on the CID inspector.

The police is trying to verify his story.
