NDA Run by Criminal Elements; Says Rabri

Patna: Nov. 2, 2007

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Chief Minister of Bihar Rabri Devi, at a press conference outside her residence in Patna on Friday lashed out at the Nitish government accusing it to be in the clutches of criminals and dons with complete support and protection from the government machinery.

"There is a clear attempt by the government to protect the Janata Dal (U) leader Anant Singh for his involvement in the murder of Reshma Khatoon. The government should also be investigated how a first-time MLA was given such a sprawling bungalow and over two dozen security guards when many veteran leaders do not enjoy such amenities," the leader of the Opposition said.

Demanding a DNA test on Anant Singh to establish his role in the murder of Reshma Khatoon, Rabri Devi said there was a widespread conspiracy within the government to protect the killer or killers of Khatoon.

RJD which is no stranger to hard-core criminals within its own party is trying its level best to shed the label of the party of the criminals while turning the table on the Janata Dal (U) that came into power on the promise of ridding Bihar from criminals within three months and establish a rule of law that sorely lacked during the 15 years of Lalu-Rabri rule.
