Shivanand Tiwari writes to the PM; Asks for Lalu's Removal
Patna: Nov. 3, 2007
Janata Dal (U) national spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari, in a letter to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, asked him to dump the Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav from the UPA cabinet on account of his attitude and character unbecoming of his stature.
"His public behavior is against the dignity of the Indian constitution and is unfavorable to a healthy relationship between the Center and the state," Tiwari wrote in his letter, sources said.
Tiwari also accused the Railway Minister of abusing his power to organize his 'Chetawani Rally' in Patna and using the Indian Railways to promote his own political agenda in the guise of inaugurating railway projects.
Several local and federal laws were revised and broken in organizing the rally that has resulted in the loss of over Rs. 1 crore to the Indian Railways exchequer, the JD-U leader said in his letter.
"This loss is only from railway traffic in Bihar. Nationwide, the financial loss is incomprehensible," Tiwari said.
