JD-U in No Mood to take RJD Criticism Lying Down

Patna: Nov. 4, 2007

Reacting at the latest anti-Nitish tirade by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Janata Dal (U) legislator Gyanendra Singh Gyanu, in Patna on Sunday, shot back at Yadav saying the Railway Minister was conveniently forgetting that at one time it was he who was kissing the grounds walked on by Anant Singh.

"Nitish Kumar has the same relationship with Anant Singh that a party leader has with any of its leaders. There is nothing wrong with that but knowing the character of Lalu Prasad Yadav, it is not surprising that now he is accusing the Chief Minister of feeling intimated by Anant Singh whereas the fact is that it was Yadav who used to utilize the services of Singh to procure food-grains and fodder for animals. Then Anant Singh was his blue-eyed boy," Gyanu said.

Further exposing the hypocrisy of the Railway Minister, Gyanu recounted an incident when a truck carrying food-grains and fodder for Yadav was caught by the traffic SP. "That incident nearly caught the SP's job," said the JD-U leader.

"How can someone forget that during the RJD rule criminals were roaming on the streets of Bihar without any fear? In fact, most criminals were getting full protection from the RJD leaders. Even Lalu's own brothers-in-law Sadhu and Subhash Yadav had kept the entire state of Bihar terrorized," he said adding it was the RJD chief who was scared to death by his own brothers-in-laws and the criminal-turned-Siwan MP Mohammed Shahabuddin.

"Those days are over now. If someone breaks the law, he faces the consequences of it regardless of which party he or she belongs to," Gyanu said.
