Police Clueless in Coaching Institute Killing
Patna: Nov. 4, 2007
More than 24 hours since the killing of Lalitanand Sharma, the owner of Mamata Institute of Technology, the police continued to shoot in dark as to the motive behind Sharma's murder and the identity of the killers who appeared to have been acting out of some contractual agreement.
"The way the criminals barged into the institute and singled out Sharma to commit crime, it is obvious that their intention was to eliminate Sharma and it is quite probable that they were paid by someone to finish him off," officials in Patna said.
Sharma's son, who was in Kolkata when the crime was committed, denied the reports of any family dispute leading to his father's murder.
"There was no dispute in the family and as far as I know, my father had not received any demand for extortion. However, professional jealousy could not be ruled out as the reason for my father's killing," said Munna Sharma after his return from Kolkata.
As reported before, Sharma was shot to death by an young man who walked into his Rajiv Nagar coaching institute on Saturday and after calling him into his chamber, showered him with bullets with guns in each of his hand.
