Dadan Pahalwan Trying to Make a Comeback
Patna: Nov. 5, 2007
Former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and the president of the Prajatantrik Lok Ekta Dal Dadan Pahalwan, during his function to honor the old people at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on Monday, said if he ever formed the government, he would provide insurance to each old person for a total of Rs. 1 lakh to deal with the old age.
Playing the time-tested reservation as bait tactic, Pahalwan said that besides Rs. 1 lakh old-age insurance to the elderly in Bihar, he would also ensure 10 percent reservation in jobs for the children of the farmers, job to a member of each family in the state, and a wedding insurance of Rs. 25,000 for each daughter in a needy family.
Pahalwan also promised to put a complete ban on the sale of alcohol in Bihar in the event his party came into power in the state.
"If Lalu Prasad Yadav had kept me in his party, today Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) would be in power and not the NDA," the wrestler-turned-politician said.
