Government Prepared to Tackle Human Menace

Photo by Shashi UttamChief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna on Wednesday inaugurated the anti-human trafficking unit for Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Gaya in a joint effort between the state government and the United Nations (Office of Drugs and Crime) to combat the serious problem of human trafficking in the state with a flourishing market nationwide.

Directing the officials to completely destroy the human trafficking network in Bihar, Kumar said the government was taking tough measures to train the police and educate the public of the evils of human trafficking that continues to take its toll on the families and the community.

Photo by Shashi UttamThe Chief Minister appealed to private organizations to assume responsibilities in fighting this social evil by raising awareness at block and village levels while helping the state in recovering and rehabilitating the victims of human trafficking.

A special cell to stop human trafficking is also being constituted that would operate under the Additional Director General of Police and the CID in Gaya, Muzaffarpur, and Patna, the Chief Minister said.
