Dr. Mahendra Narain Path Inaugurated

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, on the occasion of the 70th birth anniversary of Dr. Mahendra Narain on Saturday, in the presence of the family members of Dr. Narain and a number of state officials, inaugurated the naming of the road between Dinkar Chowk and Rajendra Nagar Over-bridge roundabout in Patna as Dr. Mahendra Narain Path.
Late Dr. Narain, who died on April 30, 2005, was not only known as a doctor 'with a healing touch', he was also an outstanding citizen and a compassionate physician who would often work late in night to ensure all his patients, many coming from far away places in Bihar, were treated with utmost care and kindness.
Dr. Narain, in recognition of his exemplary work, was honored with the prestigious "Patna Ratna" (the gem of Patna) award in 1990 and "Bihar Vibhuti" (the doyen of Bihar) in 1995.
Besides Modi, among others who were present at the road-renaming ceremony included Patna Mayor Sanjay Kumar, retired IPS G. Narain, Patna Central legislator Arun Kumar, Police ADG Sunit Kumar, IG Police Dr. S. Raza, Dr. H. R. P.Verma, Dr. A. K. Thakur, Dr. S. N. Mishra, Dr. Ranjan Akhauri, Dr. B. K.Verma, Dr. V. N. Prasad, Mr. R. R. Verma, Dr. B. K. Karak, Dr. B. N. Prasad, Mr. Ajay Narain, Dr. Rajay Narain, Mr. Amit Narain, Mr. R. K. Verma, Mr. D. K. Verma , Mr. S. K. Shah, Dr. Gopal Prasad Sinha, and Dr. Brij Lall.
The Dr. Mahendra Narain Foundation, during the Saturday event, announced its intent to launch a fully equipped Mobile Ambulance to be used for the benefit of the people of Bihar.
The foundation, formed to honor and carry on the legacy and dedication of Dr. Narain, also celebrated its 2nd anniversary on Saturday.
Several free medical camps for the people of Bihar have been organized by the foundation since its inception in 2005.
