Chitragupta Puja Celebrated; Leaders Participate

The Kayastha Pariwar in Patna on Sunday celebrated Chitragupta Puja by offering prayers to Lord Chitragupta, the Hindu God responsible for keeping the accounts of a man's good or bad deeds, and educational items like pens, ink, and books while also organizing community feast for thousands of people.
Pujas were held in Kankarbagh, Ashok Nagar, Gardanibagh, Dariapur, Kadam Kuan, Patna City, and other parts of the state capital.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, during his participation in the puja at the Gardanibagh Thakurbari, was presented with a silver set of pen and ink-holder prompting him to comment that the gifts were precious and he would cherish them for a long time to come.
"This gift is very appropriate for the time since the days of 'lathi' are now over in the state," Kumar said referring to the Lalu-Rabri era in Bihar when items like pen had taken a backseat while use of lathi was openly promoted to cling on to power.
Kumar was also accompanied by the former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Bihar Assembly chairperson Udai Narain Chowdhary, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Patna MP Ram Kripal Yadav, Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav and a number of leaders from a host of political parties.
Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Sushil Kumar Modi, former Union Minister Shyam Rajak, legislator Arun Kumar Sinha, Ram Kripal Yadav, MLA (Patna Central) Arun Kumar Sinha, Dr. Narendra Prasad, Dr. Gopal Prasad Sinha, legislator Nitin Navin, and ward councilors Poonam Verma and Pramila Verma also visited a number of places in Patna where pujas were organized by various Kayastha organizations.
