Family Members Blame Hospital for the Death of Former Ward Councilor
Patna: Nov. 11, 2007
Family members of the Janata Dal (U) leader and former ward councilor Pramila Jaiswal at the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) on Sunday accused the hospital administration of utmost neglect and lack of proper care resulting in her death.
Jaiswal, a resident of Patna City, had undergone a minor operation on November 7 and had been in the hospital since then.
However, despite several pleas by the family members, not a single doctor came to see her in over 12 hours during which she was going through some major pain.
Even after four hours since her death, her body lied there in the absence of any doctor who could certify the cause of her death, Jaiswal's husband Ramnarain Jaiswal and daughter Neetu Chowdhary said.
"Not only we were being mistreated and ignored by the nurses, when we tried to contact the doctor, we were told he was on vacation," Ramnarain Jaiswal said.
Angry family members and other patients in the Tata Ward blamed her death on the doctors and the hospital management calling her death unnecessary and premature.
