Seven Dead in Road Accident in Kaimur District

Kaimur: Nov. 13, 2007

In a head-on collision between a van and a large oil tanker on late Monday night in Kaimur district, at least seven persons were reported killed and a dozen injured.

The accident happened on National Highway 30 near Katra village.

All the victims were the passengers of the van and were returning to their homes in Mahuari village after attending a funeral in Varanasi, officials said.

The dozen or so injured people were taken to a hospital in Kaimur where some remain in very critical conditions.

The driver of the tanker truck was arrested and was being questioned by the police.

It is not clear if alcohol played any role in the fatal accident.
