Children of Ankur Public School and other schools in the state capital including the Rose Bud School and Modern Sainik School celebrated the Children's Day on Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of India's first Prime Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru by organizing programs and painting competitions.
Singing patriotic, emotionally-charged songs, the children also presented each other with roses and sweets while promising to continue the legacy of 'Chacha' Nehru by following on his ideals.
The Director of the Ankur Public School Sanjay Kumar, in his brief speech, lamented the practice of child labor in India and many other countries saying not only it was against the world child labor law, it was also despicable and immoral.
Children were praised for drawing the pictures of Nehru during the painting competition.
Teachers also advised the youngsters to draw inspiration from the Prime Minister's life and spread love and brotherhood among people of diverse backgrounds.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Governor R. S. Gawai paid their tributes to Nehru at his statue at Patna Junction.
