Jagjit Singh Enthralls Patna Audience
Patna: Nov. 17, 2007
Noted ghazal singer Jagjit Singh, during his visit to Patna on Saturday after a gap of nearly 19 years, regaled his admirers at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall for hours in the presence of Bihar Governor R. S. Gavai and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
Singh, known for his smooth, silky voice that has earning him worldwide accolades, arrived from Mumbai at the Patna Airport where he was mobbed by dozens of his fans eager to get a glimpse of him.
With oldies goldies like 'Kal Chaudween ki Raat thi' and more recent tunes like 'Mashook ka Burhapa Lazzat Dila Raha Hai', the maestro kept the audience captivated for over three hours amidst loud applause after each song by the audience.
"I always wanted to visit Patna again but the cultural atmosphere in the state had changed in the last couple of decades. Now it is evident that Bihar is once again striving to regain its cultural place in the nation and it is my privilege to be here where people still enjoy the finer things of life," said the ghazal artist.
