Nitish Lays the Foundation Stone of Tractor Factory in Fatuha
Patna: Nov. 18, 2007
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, during the laying of the foundation stone of Rs. 175 crore Sonalika tractor factory in Fatuha on Sunday, said despite continued onslaught by the opposition leaders, Bihar was well on the path of progress and people of Bihar were aware this fact.
"Some of our opponents are busy issuing warnings to the NDA government while others are busy writing obituary of it. While they may not be able to see positive changes in Bihar, the people of the state know what the truth is and what we are doing to make Bihar a prosperous state," Kumar said.
The Chief Minister said the tractor factory with an annual capacity of producing 42,000 tractors would attract more investment in the state and provide employment to thousands of people in the region.
"Besides generating employment opportunities in the state, the factory would also directly contribute towards the development of educational and infrastructural machineries," he said.
Dismissing the allegations of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Chemical, Steel, and Fertilizer Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Kumar said the state government was willing to provide more lands to both of them to set up railways and other projects but only after they completed the projects for which the government has already made provisions for lands.
"Let Mr. Paswan set up a steel industry in Bihar like the one in Bokaro and I would personally go to the villages and request people to give up their lands for fair compensations," the Chief Minister said.
Sonalika Group presidents L. D. Mittal, Bihar Industry Minister Gautam Singh, Development Commissioner R. J. M. Pillai, and Industrial Development Commissioner S. Vijay Raghwan were among those who were present on the occasion.
