BJP Protest against Center's Agricultural Policies
Patna: Nov. 20, 2007
Members of the farmers' cell of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Patna on Tuesday staged a dharna at the Income Tax roundabout to protest against the 'step-motherly' treatment to Bihar by the Agricultural Ministry led by the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Ram Vilas Paswan.
Addressing the crowd, the Kisan Front state president Satyendra Narayan Kushwaha accused Paswan of lying and misleading the people of Bihar when he made the statement that the Center had already released 50 lakh tons of fertilizer to Bihar.
Kushwaha also blamed the banks for failing to issue Kisan Credit Cards to the qualifying farmers saying that less than 25 percent farmers had so far been able to obtain it due to extreme red tape and complicated process of filling out necessary paper works.
Others who took part in the dharna included Front state minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Ganga Prasad, Giriraj Singh, Vishwanath Bhagat, Kiran Shankar, Anil Yadav, Hemlata Sharma, Abhilasha Devi, Suresh Singh, and a number of other BJP members.
