Shatrughan Sinha Comes to the Defence of Ram Setu
Patna: Nov. 21, 2007
Former Union Minister and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha during a workshop on "Ram Setu: Cultural Preservation" at Vidyapati Bhawan in Patna on Wednesday said the efforts to debunk the history of the Ram Setu had been going on for over 150 years but all such attempts had failed in the past because of the people's strong faith in the existence of Lord Ram.
"People are being misled on the Ram Setu issue for political gains. Some of these people are so perturbed by the the strong Hindu faith that they are rushing to the Supreme Court to deny the very existence of Lord Ram," Sinha said.
Retired archaeologist Prakash Charan, while giving a history of the Ram Setu, said any attempt to destroy it would be an attack on the Hindu faith and dabbling with the history of the humankind.
BJP state president Radha Mohan Singh, blasting the Sonia Gandhi-led UPA government at the Center, said these politicians were determined to re-write the ancient history of India. "A country that is deeply rooted in the existence of Lord Ram cannot just sit tight and wait for some vested interests to destroy the history," Singh said.
Senior party leader and former Governor of Gujarat Kailashpati Mishra said the Hindus will have to rise to the occasion like Lord Ram's Vanar Sena to crush forces that are hellbent on destroying and defacing the history of India.
