Governor Inaugurates Philatelic Exhibition

Bihar Governor R. S. Gavai, while inaugurating the 10th 4-day Bihar Philatelic Exhibition (BIPEX 2007) at the Wheeler Senate Hall in Patna on Friday, released a commemorative stamp to mark the International Non-violence Day and appealed to the people to shun violence and live on the ideals of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Jai Prakash Narain.
"The city of Pataliputra that has given births to saints like Mahavir, Buddha, and Guru Govind Singh, has been sending out the message of peace since thousands of years. This is what the land of Pataliputra is known for around the world and must be preserved that way," the Governor said.
The star attraction of the exhibition is the 2-ana copper stamp issued on March 31, 1774 with 'Patna Post' written in French on one side and 'Azeemabad' on the other side.
The exhibition is open to the public between 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm.
Chief Post Master, Bihar Circle, General Kamaleshwar Prasad, Director of the Postal Services Pranav Kumar, and other senior postal officials were present during the inaugural ceremony.
