CM Condemns UP Basts; Blames UPA for Terror Attacks
Patna: Nov. 23, 2007
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, following the Friday serial bomb blasts in Varanasi, Lucknow, and Faizabad that left over a dozen people dead, many of them lawyers, condemned the attacks in strong words and 'an attempt to divide the nation on communal lines'.
"I hope the UPA government takes this attack on our democracy very seriously and tracks down those who are responsible for it," the Chief Minister said.
Other NDA leaders in Bihar also condemned the blasts and accused the Sonia Gandhi-led UPA government of being soft on foreign terrorists.
"Such attacks have become very common under the UPA government but apparently neither Sonia Gandhi nor Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is concerned about it. They have already scrapped anti-terrorist measures like POTA and refuse to acknowledge the fact that ISI and other terrorist outfit agents have infiltrated our country," said a senior Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Patna.
As reported, terrorists with alleged connection with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a Pakistan-based Muslim militant outfit, detonated six blasts outside court buildings in Varanasi, Lucknow, and Faizabad within a span of less than 20 minutes killing at least 13 persons, including 5 lawyers, and injuring more than 50 others.
