Administration Working to Solve Water Shortage in Patna

Photo by Shashi UttamUrban Development Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, on Friday, inaugurated water resources centers at Dariapur, Nooranibagh, Chowdhary Tola, and Anjuman Islamia Hall in Patna while promising to bring an end to the drinking water problem in Patna soon.

Eight more such water resources centers would be opened in Patna by the end of this year, the Minister said.

While the Dariapur center would have a total capacity of storing 70,000 gallons, the Nooranibagh center will store 40,000 gallons, Chowdhary Tola 25,000, and Anjuman Islamia 75,000 gallons, Choubey said.

The new water resources centers, built at a cost of Rs. 1.6 crore, would be able to serve over 1 lakh people in these areas, PHED minister Prem Kumar said.

The Urban Development Minister further said that Patna would gain the status of a metropolitan city within next two years and for that a metropolitan committee would be set up by the state government to move things in the right direction.

Others present on the occasion included Patna Mayor Sanjay Kumar, Deputy Mayor Santosh Mehta, Patna Central legislator Arun Kumar Sinha, PMC Commissioner Rana Awadhesh Singh, and Bihar State Water Board manager Baidyanath Prasad.
