Congress Demands Disclosure of Assets of NDA Ministers
Patna: Nov. 24, 2007
Opposition leaders in Bihar, following the NDA government's presentation of its achievements in last two years in Patna on Saturday, wasted no time in downplaying the government's claims saying the presentation of the so-called report card was nothing more than eyewash meant to further mislead the people of Bihar.
Congress leader Sadanand Singh said that the Chief Minister was falsely taking credits for works that had hardly begun in the state in last few months. "The projects have barely taken off the ground but Nitish Kumar is already presenting them in his report as if they were already complete," he said.
Demanding from the Chief Minister to release the list of properties owned by NDA ministers and legislators, Singh said corruption, under the Nitish government, was at its peak and money meant for state development were being diverted for personal gains.
"Fertilizer meant for Bihar farmers are being black-marketed in Nepal while farmers in the state are struggling to survive. Crime has gone up and people are still waiting to receive relief from the effects of flood. This is the true report card of the NDA government while everything presented by the Chief Minister is a joke," said the Congress leader.
