Contractor Murdered, Dumped Near Railway Track

Contractor Murdered. Photo by Shashi UttamThe Patna police, on Saturday, recovered the dead body of a contractor from near the Sachivalaya Halt under Jakkanpur police station. He was later identified as Umashankar Singh of Gardanibagh, the police said.

As reported, at around 8:30 am, some passers-by found the body of Singh who appeared to have been killed by some blunt object like bricks as indicated by the injuries on his face.

The police were notified who picked up the body and send it to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for an autopsy.

The victim was also identified as a relative of notorious criminal Pintu Singh. Those who knew him said that he had left the house on his motorcycle on Thursday but failed to return home till late night. When his wife tried to reach him on his mobile, the phone appeared to have been turned off.

A quick search did not produce any result. However, on Saturday when a body was found in a ditch near the Sachivalaya Halt, police were notified and the victim identified.

Two people, who the victim was believed to be acquainted with, have been taken into police custody for questioning.
