Shakeel Ahmed becomes Congress' National Spokesperson
Patna: Nov. 26, 2007
Congress leader and Union Miniser Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, after assuming the role of party national spokesperson on Monday, said he would ensure the Congress regains its glories in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh by 'continuing to practice the agenda of non-divisiveness and development'.
Ahmed, surrounded by other Congress leaders and supporters at the IIBM hall in Patna, said the Congress did not believe in the politics of religion or caste.
"Humanity is the principle of the party and development its national agenda. People are fed up with politics based on caste and religion and the Congress once again will become strong in both UP and Bihar by continuing to take the nation to the next level of prosperity," he said.
"It is the duty of all Congress leaders, activists, and supporters to take the party's agenda to each village and city and in that sense each member of the Congress is the party spokesperson," Ahmed said.
Later, the members of the Youth Congress presented a shawl to Ahmed to celebrate his becoming the party's national spokesperson.
