Anant Singh, Murder Accused Anil Sharma Face Each Other
Patna: Nov. 28, 2007
In a rather awkward moment, Janata Dal (U) leader Anant Singh and the Patna builder accused of planning and killing Kajal a few weeks ago, Anil Sharma, on Wednesday, came face to face with each other during a police interrogation at the Sachivalaya police station in Patna on Wednesday.
During their 45 minutes encounter under immense police security, Singh asked Sharma why he committed the heinous crime of killing an innocent person and falsely implicate him in the Reshma, also known as Kajal, murder case.
"I helped you all the way over a period of so many years. Yet, you raped and murdered a woman and hatched a grand plan to implicate me in that crime. I want to know that why did you do that and how did you think you would get away from being caught," the JD-U leader who spent a few days in jail after the police picked him up following attacks on some media reporters who had gone to ask him to find out about his alleged involvement in the Reshma murder case.
A visibly shaken Sharma admitted he made a big mistake and apologized to Singh while denying he was alone in the dreadful scheme.
"I did it at the instigation of Mukesh Singh," Sharma said.
Mukesh Singh is another Patna builder who had had previous contacts with the JD-U leader.
Sharma, after being produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mithilesh Kumar Rai, was taken into judicial custody and was sent to the Beur Jail until December 4.
