Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, in Patna on Sunday, came down heavily on speedy trial courts saying it was deliberately picking and choosing only those cases that were political in nature and had serious ramifications on the political scenario of the state.
During a press conference at the party office in Patna, Paswan said that the way the fast track courts were handling cases against political oppositions, it was clear the government was acting out of political vendetta in the name of good governance.
Interestingly, LJP leader Surajbhan, who is also well known for his several runs with the law and is in the net of the fast track court, was also present at the meeting.
"I am not against speedy trials but the way this government is picking and choosing the cases, it is abundantly clear that justice is not what is driving this government," the LJP leader said.
Talking about the possible mid-term Lok Sabha elections, Paswan categorically rejected joining hands with the Congress, NDA, or Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in Bihar.
"In Bihar, we will go solo on our own strengths. Even if Sonia Gandhi puts pressure on me, we will not form alliance with anyone in Bihar," Paswan said.
Earlier, the LJP leader inducted more than 40 people, including former RJD MLA from Forbesganj Zakir Anwar and former Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Raniganj Parmanand Rishideo, in his party.
