Criminals Shoot Rickshaw-walla for Rs. 230

Patna: Oct. 14, 2007

Making a mockery of the so-called heightened security for Eid and Durga Puja in the state capital, criminals in Patna on Serpentine road, shot and seriously injured a rickshaw puller and made away with Rs. 230 in cash.

The crime occurred near Panch Shiv Mandir on Sunday.

As reported, 35-year old Manoj Rai was returning to his home in Punaichak after dropping a passenger at Patna Junction when two criminals ambushed him near the Panch Shiv temple.

When Manoj showed reluctance in parting with his hard-earned money, the criminals shot him in his leg and snatched Rs. 230 from his possession before disappearing in the cover of the darkness.

Manoj was then rushed to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) where he remains in serious but stable condition.

No report has been filed by the victim yet, officials at Sachivalaya police station said.
